Dover Speaks to Santa Radio Event

Get ready for a heartwarming holiday adventure as local kids connect directly with the Big Man himself… Santa Claus!
Join us for a magical on-air experience hosted by Village of Dover & Bureau County ARES.


Children will have the chance to speak to Santa over amateur radio, share their Christmas wishes, and enjoy the excitement of hearing Santa respond live. It’s a joyful blend of holiday cheer and ham radio fun—perfect for families, young explorers, and anyone who loves a good dose of Christmas magic. Refreshments will be provided.


Bring the kids and let’s create memories filled with wonder, laughter, and the spirit of the season. Ho ho ho… we can’t wait to see you there!

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a volunteer organization of licensed amateur radio operators who

provide emergency communication support in times of disaster or crisis. ARES operates under the authority of the

American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and works closely with emergency management agencies, local government, and

relief organizations.

When natural disasters, severe weather, or other emergencies disrupt regular communication systems, ARES volunteers

use amateur radio to maintain critical lines of communication. This helps coordinate emergency response efforts, provide

situational awareness, and assist in life-saving operations.

• Provide backup communications during disasters and public emergencies through amateur ham radio.

• Support local agencies such as emergency management, fire departments, law enforcement, and health

organizations.

• Assist in community events by ensuring reliable communication coverage.

• Operate radio networks during severe weather events and other crises.

Any licensed amateur radio operator with an interest in public service can join Bureau County ARES. No prior emergency communication experience is required—just a willingness to serve and participate in training exercises.


Complete ARRL Form FSD-98 and send, or give it to your local EC - Emergency Coordinator. You can email the form to Emergency Coordinator Brian Duran KD9AOK.
